The following steps and screenshots will help you to connect to UF Wireless Service. These steps only need to be performed once. Any student resident with a valid GatorLink username and password can use DHNet Wireless Service. If you forgot your GatorLink password, please visit http://www.gatorlink.ufl.edu/ or call (352) 392-HELP.
NOTE: Due to the complexity of this tutorial it is recommended that you use the automatic configuration wizard by going to http://getonline.dhnet.ufl.edu
Click on Start, then right-click Computer and, from the drop-down menu, select Manage
Double-click Services and Applications, then double-click Services. Then, look for WLAN AutoConfig.
For the Startup Type, Automatic. Then, click on Start to enable the service.
Click on the Recovery tab and set First, Second, and Subsequent Failures to Restart the Service. Then, set the counter to reset after 0 days and to restart the service after 0 minutes. Then, click on Apply and then on OK.
Now, we are going to create the profile for the uf SSID. To do so, go to Start, Control Panel, Network and Sharing Center and on the left-hand side column click on Manage wireless networks.
Click the Add button and select the Manually create a network profile.
Configure the profile using the following settings:
- Network Name: uf
- Security Type: WPA2-Enterprise
- Encryption Type: AES
Then, check the first option that says Start this connection automatically. Then, click on Next.
Then, on the new window, click on Change Connection Settings to configure the profile for 802.1x authentication.
Select the Recovery tab and ensure that the Network authentication method is set to
Protected EAP or PEAP. Now click Settings.
Under Trusted Root Certification Authorities, AddTrust External CA Root should be checked. The Authentication Method should be set to Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2). Next, check the box beside Enable Fast Reconnect. Now click Configure.
Uncheck the box for Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any). Then click OK. Click OK once more.
Click Advanced Settings.
Check the box next to Specify authentication mode. Select User authentication. Click Save Credentials.
Type your GatorLink username and your GatorLink password. Please note that you will have to update this every time you change your GatorLink password. Click OK. Then click OK until all windows have been closed.
Now, click the Networking Icon in the system tray, click uf, and then select Connect.
You Are Now Connected!
You have now successfully connected to the UF Wireless Service. If you have problems at any time during this procedure, visit a DHNet@Home location, call (352) 392-2465, or submit an iServiceDesk Request.
