Windows 10

The following steps and screenshots will help you to connect to UF Wireless Service. These steps only need to be performed once. Any student resident with a valid GatorLink username and password can use DHNet Wireless Service. If you forgot your GatorLink password, please visit or call (352) 392-HELP.

Step 1:

Navigate to the search bar.

Step 2:

Type in Network and Sharing Center. As you begin typing, Windows will most likely bring it up as a suggestion. Tap or click to open it.

Step 3:

Once the Network and Sharing Center is open, tap or click on Set up a new connection or network.

Step 4:

On the new window that just appeared, select Manually connect to a wireless network and tap or click on Next.

Step 5:

The next window will ask you to input information for the network. You only need to specify the following fields:

  • Network name: uf
  • Security type: WPA2-Enterprise

Make sure that Start this connection automatically is checked and Connect even if the network is not broadcasting is not checked. Tap or click on Next.

Step 6:

At this point, you should have added the uf wireless network successfully, but since it is not configured properly yet, you will not have internet access.

Tap or click on Change connection settings to configure the network properly.

Step 7:

This will bring up a new window titled uf Wireless Network Properties. Navigate to the Security tab.

Your settings should match these by default. If not, please change them. Tap on click on the Settings button right next to Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP).

Step 8:

Once again, this will bring up a new window, Protected EAP Properties. You should see a list of Trusted Root Certification Authorities with checkboxes next to them. Check AddTrust External CA Root. Before closing this window, tap or click on Configure… and make sure that the checkbox that appears there is not checked.

Tap or click OK to close the Protected EAP Properties window.

Step 9:

You should be back on the uf Wireless Network Properties window. Do not close this window yet. Tap or click on Advanced Settings.

Step 10:

On the Advanced settings window, make sure that you are under the 802.1X settings tab. Enable Specify authentication mode, and select User authentication from the dropdown menu.

Tap or click on Save credentials.

Step 11:

A small window should have popped up asking to save your credentials. Please input your GatorLink Username and GatorLink Password and tap or click OK to close this window.

You can close all the windows now by tapping or clicking OK or Close. Do not click Cancel for any of them.

Step 12:

You should now be back to the Windows Desktop. You may have to wait a bit while the computer connects to the network. To check that you are connected to the uf wireless network, tap or click on the wireless icon at the taskbar.

This should bring up a list of all the wireless networks within range. The uf wireless network should display “Connected, secured“.

You Are Now Connected!

You have now successfully connected to the UF Wireless Service. If you have problems at any time during this procedure, visit a DHNet@Home location, call (352) 392-2465, or submit an iServiceDesk Request.
