The following steps and screenshots will help you to connect to UF Wired Service. These steps only need to be performed once. Any student resident with a valid GatorLink username and password can use DHNet Wired Service. If you have forgotten your GatorLink password, please visit or call (352) 392-HELP.

NOTE: Due to the complexity of this tutorial it is recommended that you use the automatic configuration wizard by going to

Step 1

Click on Start then right-click on Computer. Select Manage.

Step 2

Expand the Service and Applications menu and select Services. Select Wired AutoConfig (not WLAN AutoConfig) from the listing on the right and right-click. Select Properties.

Step 3

In the Wired AutoConfig Properties window, make sure that the Startup Type is set to AUTOMATIC. Press the Start button under Service Status then press OK. Close out any open windows.

Step 4

Click on Start then go to Control Panel. Make sure the Control Panel window is in Classic View. (Select Classic View from the menu on the left). Choose the Network and Sharing Center icon from the listing.

Step 5

In the Network and Sharing Center, select Manage Network Connections from the Tasks menu on the left.

In the Network Connections window, right-click on Local Area Connection and select Properties.

Step 7

Select the Authentication tab. Make sure that Enable IEEE 802.1X Authentication is checked. Select Protected EAP (PEAP) in the Network Authentication Method area. Make sure CACHE USER INFORMATION FOR SUBSEQUENT CONNECTIONS TO THIS NETWORK is checked as well. Press the Settings button.

Step 8

The Protected EAP Properties window will show. Make sure that “Validate server certificate” option is checked and select the checkbox for AddTrust External CA Root from the Trusted Root Certification Authorities menu. Make sure the Enable Fast Reconnect button is checked.

Under Select Authentication Method, make sure Secured Password (EAP -MSCHAPv2) is selected and press the Configure button.

Step 9

The EAP MSCHAPv2 Properties window will appear. Make sure the checkbox is unchecked. Press OK and then Press OK again. Press OK to close out the Local Area Connection Properties window.

Step 10

After all windows are closed out, you will see an Information Popup that will ask you for additional information. Please click on the Information Popup. If the Information Popup disappears before you can click on it, please disconnect your network cable, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in. The pop-up will come back up again.

Step 11

The Enter Credentials window will appear. Please enter the following information:

Username: Enter your GatorLink username here
Password: Enter your GatorLink password here
Logon Domain: Leave this field empty

Press the OK button. The computer will authenticate your GatorLink login and you will have access in about 15-20 seconds.

You Are Now Connected!
