The following steps and screenshots will help you to connect to UF Wired Service. These steps only need to be performed once. Any student resident with a valid GatorLink username and password can use DHNet Wired Service. If you have forgotten your GatorLink password, please visit http://www.gatorlink.ufl.edu/ or call (352) 392-HELP.

NOTE: Due to the complexity of this tutorial it is recommended that you use the automatic configuration wizard by going to http://getonline.dhnet.ufl.edu

Step 1

Click on Start then right-click Computer. Select Manage.

Double-click Services and Applications, then double-click Services. Scroll down and double-click Wired AutoConfig.

Step 3

Select Automatic for the Startup type.

Step 4

Click Start to initialize the service.

Step 5

Click the Recovery tab at the top of the window. Set First failure, Second failure, and Subsequent failures to Restart the Service. Then set the Reset service after to 0 minutes. Then click OK.

Click the Networking Icon in the system tray. Click Open Network and Sharing Center.

Click Change adapter settings.

Step 8

Right-click Local Area Connection and click Properties.

Step 9

Click Change adapter settings.

Step 10

Click the Authentication tab. The Network authentication method should be set to Protected EAP or PEAP. Next, Fallback to unauthorized network access should be unchecked. Now click Settings.

Step 11

Under Trusted Root Certification Authorities, AddTrust should be checked. The Authentication Method should be set to Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2). Next, check the box beside Enable Fast Reconnect. Now click Configure.

Step 12

Uncheck the box for Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any). Then click OK. Click OK once more.

Step 13

Click Additional Settings.

Step 14

Check the box next to Specify authentication mode. Select User authentication. Click Save Credentials.

Step 15

Type your GatorLink Username for the user name and your GatorLink password for your password. Please note that you will have to update this every time you change your GatorLink password. Click OK. Then click OK on the following two windows.

You Are Now Connected!
