Microsoft Windows 7
The following steps and screen shots will help you to install the Java 8 Runtime Environment software.
First, determine if your computer is a 32 bit or a 64 bit operating system. Do this by right-clicking on the computer tab and then click on the drop down option labeled “Properties”
You will be able to see the bit operating system number in the system tab. Remember this Bit number
Navigate to www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html and select the JRE Download
Accept the Terms of Agreement
Click on the .exe link that corresponds with your computer properties (x64 = 64 Bit)(x86 = 32 Bit)
Open the download link to start the installation process
Close out the window
Make sure the old version of Java is removed. First, go to the control panel and click on the Uninstall a program link
Alphabetize the programs and find any program that is older than Java 8 Update 5. Double click to the program to uninstall it.
Once Java 8 update 5 is the only Java program on the list, you should have a restored internet connection. Should you experience further issues, please visit a DHNet help desk for further assistance.
